Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
About 200 deaths each and every year are caused by mishaps involving forklifts, or lift trucks. Correct inspection and maintenance of lift truck tires can truly help to lessen the risk of mishaps.

Pre-Work Check
Prior to the start of each shift, the tires on the lift truck must be checked for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires must be checked to ensure the pressure is not very low. Low tire pressure can make the machinery prone to tip-overs when lifting loads.

Kinds of Tires
The selection of tire type must be based on the kind of surface wherein the lift truck would be used. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For surfaces that are smooth, tires tend to be smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks being used outdoors. Pneumatic tires are able to grip rough surfaces well as they are air-filled and have a rubber tread.

Other factors
Based on OSHA guidelines, all lift trucks require some continual daily and some periodic inspection that is carried out every shift. The tires must be inspected once more for any indication of damage, like for instance cuts or wear.

Lift truck Safety
If you or your workers are going to be using forklifts, correct training in forklift safety is important. Forklift accidents can result in serious personal injuries or death and result in unmanageable financial hardship. Even minor accidents could cost you and your company money if the forklift or the merchandise are damaged during a mishap. Be sure you are well informed regarding issues involved in forklift safety.
