Consider the Fast Charge Option
There is an old rule of thumb about recharging batteries of forklifts. It goes something like: utilize a battery for 8 hours, charge it for 8 hours and then finally, allow it to cool for 8 hours. This formula has changed for lots of work applications that run more than one 8 hour shift. The fast charging option has become a really popular option to traditional charging and since its development; a lot of businesses have opted to make the switch.

What Are the Advantages of Fast Charging?

Less Charging Time
It can take a standard charger to charge a battery from 20% charged to 100% charged in about 8 hours. Fast charging could now accomplish this same charging in about an hour to an hour and a half! Many companies utilize scheduled lunch and break times to complete this vital job.

Easier Refills
Usually, fast charge batteries also require a single-point watering system. This system means that users do not require removing the battery from the lift truck to be able to water it.

Temperature-Sensitive Design
These new fast charge batteries have a thermistor located close to the center cell in order to monitor temperature. When the temperature gets to a particular level, the charge rate is reduced and occasionally even stopped in order to make sure the battery does not overheat. This method can unfortunately result in an undercharged battery. There are several specific fast charge brands of batteries that use copper inserts, inter-cell connectors and extra thick posts so as to increase conductivity and decrease heat generation because of the higher current. These features help to allow the battery to accept a higher charge rate for a longer time period.

These machinery have seen their overall production increase greatly ever since the fast charge battery system was developed. Before, companies used to require more than one machine when they were operating around the clock; now they could utilize one forklift twice as much in a day and save much money by utilizing the fast charging batteries.
