During 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. During that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed a lot of customers and hence, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, as the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, when the demand for new machinery to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into production with stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values because of the economic slump during the beginning of the 2000s, when they partnered together with Terex. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Due to the Genie name and its solid reputation within the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the first few years following the sale. Therefore, all Genie equipment continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machinery.
The Bi-Energy and DC machinery offered by Genie offers quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work environments. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC equipment along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These machines are ideal for limited access areas or small areas in all kinds of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machines deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
